Updated review: I received a replacement set which arrived very well packaged and in excellent condition and included the instructions which the original did not have. After reading the instructions I realized that the original set was in fact functional, the lights have a very discreet on/off button that I didn’t notice before it’s well hidden. The button is on the bottom where the stake goes in. For the hassle I’m giving it three stars but the lights do work very well and customer service came through like they always do. Absolute disaster with packaging. This is what it looked like as soon as I opened the box. There was nothing inside the big box to keep the lights from moving around. Put the lights outside in the sun for over 6 hours but they did not turn on at all at night. None out of a set of 6. From the photos, it looked like these came with a standing base. These must be placed in soil or sand (possibly rocks) using the bottom stake, or they won't stand up on their own. These were perfect! I actually drilled holes in the wood on top of my pool fence and set them through the holes about 6 feet apart and on either side of the gateway ,instead of putting them in the ground, and it looks really cool at night. These solar lighted butterflies are so pretty! They were packed well in tall thin boxes. They seem to be well made. They charged quickly and light up so beautifully, as you’ll see in the picture. These lights look nice even when not lit up. I like the pattern they emit when shining. Sturdy with one or two stakes and adjustable with a button to three light intensities .
