Very happy with this ceiling medallion. The light fixture I had originally ordered for the room felt too small and this gave it the dimension in the room that was missing. Pretty simple to install. We just used small finishing nails to secure it as flat as we could to the ceiling. Then caulked around the edge. We did not end up painting it because our ceiling was already white.. Nicole. This is a beautiful piece!!!! It is made of some sort of lightweight plastic material, but looks like plaster. I used it on a major wall, surrounded in square by chair rail moulding. We replaced 3 fixtures at the front of our home - dining room, foyer, and stairwell. The stairwell had a simple bubble light, with no medallion, while the other two had this exact medallion.
