The Volterra juxtaposes modern technology of LED light-guide with a soft stone used throughout history. As a sculptor, Designer Paul Marr Hilliard is attracted to natural materials. “Soft, subdued light with the translucent alabaster creates a warm glow. It’s a beautiful stone to work with.” We contrast that with an angular cut to the stone and have lit it each from both sides, creating a stunning wash of up and down light.

With its organic, sculptural feel, this contemporary “branch” that loops and flows seems to dance across a nearly 6-foot span in mid-air. Adorned with six hand-blown glass elements, each made of a thick, clear layer of glass that is encased in an outer cocoon of colored glass. The lower portion of the outer layer of glass is removed by painstakingly hand-polishing it, revealing its inner crystal clear, faceted glass to stunning effect.

Design team leader Paul Marr Hilliard wanted to make a clear difference in the way crystals are used with the Trove chandelier. "This is about geodes and the way the earth is broken open. This crystal shape is very raw and natural. Pairing that with our LED light guide makes the crystals sparkle." The Trove makes a statement with its large crystals like buried gems in the rugged, hand-forged steel "mountains".

The oval Grace chandelier elegantly embraces traditional forms with updated and polished details. Eight clear glass cylinders are supported by graceful steel arms—handcrafted by our metal artisans.
