It has a cement look, but light does filter through by some of the quartz I had a light over the sink that was a glass tube that was always "burned" by the bulb and difficult to clean. This is an attractive pendent light. The construction of the light is good. However, the assembly instructions can be slightly unclear. The threaded screw ends are removable to accommodate different lengths but this isn’t detailed anywhere in the installation instructions, and you are left to figure it out on your own.
