The button is on the bottom where the stake goes in. For the hassle I’m giving it three stars but the lights do work very well and customer service came through like they always do. Absolute disaster with packaging. This is what it looked like as soon as I opened the box. There was nothing inside the big box to keep the lights from moving around. Put the lights outside in the sun for over 6 hours but they did not turn on at all at night. None out of a set of 6. Wow, the amount of light these solar lights produce is incredible! This is a versatile set of large solar lamps. You can add or take out a pole piece to make them stand taller or shorter. Thats exactly what I did on my patio, one is very tall, and two are shorter to fit in my flowers in my planters. These are much brighter than any solar lamps I have ever had. From the photos, it looked like these came with a standing base. These must be placed in soil or sand (possibly rocks) using the bottom stake, or they won't stand up on their own. These are large, classy, and put out so much light! I really like that the light is bright white, rather than a warmer color.
