Crafted with thoughtful details and smart functionality, the KOHLER® 13-gallon motion-sensor trash can minimizes the spread of germs, simplifies your daily routine, and meets the style demands of its surroundings. This opens automatically with the wave of a hand, allowing for more sanitary everyday operation. Push-button functionality allows you to keep the lid open for continuous use, if desired. The rectangular stainless-steel can with removable liner bin fits any brand of 13-gallon trash bags. Its convenient design allows it to be placed right against a wall or cabinet, and the fingerprint-resistant finish keeps it clean longer.

We are obsessed with this trash can! So easy, so functional, and really pretty too. The only thing, and almost worth a star, is that we don’t understand why the back isn’t fully flat. The battery of the lid juts out in back, and there is all this extra space behind where the bag and inner compartment rests. Even if the battery pack needs to jut out, they could still easily shave an inch off the depth of this given all the extra space, which would make this even more attractive and perfect. We love it though, just be prepared to know it doesn’t sit fully flush against its backside. If they “fixed” this design element, we’d 100 go buy that model immediately and give it six stars.. Nina. The Kraus garbage motion sensor trash can features a battery-operated infrared sensor that detects movement within 6 inches. The lid opens with the wave of a hand for convenient disposal of household waste or can be operated in manual mode for longer tasks. Innovative bag securing system holds bags firmly in place and out of sight; compatible with all 13-gallon garbage bags. An extra-wide 13 3/4“ opening allows easy disposal of large items.

Great addition to our kitchen. Soft opening and soft closing and battery operated. Opened as soon as you get your hand, close to it and close on its own.. Anonymous. Sun Jun 14 2026

The trash can looks nice and that's all it has going for it. The sensor is not as sensitive as it should be to pickup motion and to stay open while dumping trash into it. The lid closes very shortly after you wave to open it but needs close proximity to the sensor to detect for open. There are times it would not open until you were about 2 inches from it. The lid also stayed open if your hand was in it and the sensor did not detect your movement while dumping until you waved over the sensor again. I would not recommend this trash can.. Michael. Lake Saint Louis, MO. Wed Sep 09 2026

Just say, "open can" and the lid opens automatically, so throwing trash away is quick, efficient and hassle-free. You can also say, “stay open” while performing longer chores or cooking, and the lid won’t close until you say, “close can” (or it will close automatically after 10 minutes). It also has a motion sensor that opens the can with a wave of your hand and is smart enough to adapt to you and the surrounding environment — no false triggers, no unexpected lid closures.
