Building this shelf was no joke. Granted, the instructions say 2 people to put it together but I'm one of those independent women. Took me about 2.5 hours alone. The tabs were not easy to fight with to get them in the right position but it's fantastic when it's done. It actually looks nice and not as industrial as I was expecting. I'm using it for linens and things like that so I won't be putting anything super heavy on it. The shelf surfaces are made of compressed cardboard or something like that so I wouldn't trust it with anything really heavy. I do wish the metal pieces were a bit thicker...I think that would help with the sturdiness, because it's a bit flimsier than I anticipated. But, once we move it into the utility room and add items to the shelves, I believe it will be ok and will feel sturdier. Based on its quality, I believe the sale price was a good price point for the unit; definitely wouldn't be worth the full price of $320. As others have mentioned, the instructions are not the best. But, if you're good at visual learning, I think you will be fine with what's provided if you use common sense and just think it through. You don't use screws to put this together--the metal pieces have slots and tabs that slide into each other, so have a mallet or something similar handy to secure the tabs really well. Also, have a good idea of what levels/height you want each shelf to be before starting, that will be helpful. The only issue we really had with putting it together was with the metal pieces that intersect the framing to help support each shelf. There were no instructions with how to install this piece, so we did the best we could. It wasn't until we were putting together some other shelving from this same company that we saw any directions for this piece; why that specific instruction wasn't included with this corner unit, we'll never know. I'll include some pics for future customers who run into the same issue.
