For centuries, cooks have taken advantage of the natural heat retention and redistribution properties of cast iron. Staub builds on this tradition with our enameled cast iron cookware. Black matte enamel inside and cooking surface creates a culinary advantage for better browning, braising, and roasting. Colorful enamel outside adds flare to your kitchen and table.

Terrine dishes are traditionally used to compact a forcemeat mixture like pate (the resulting form is also referred to as a terrine). Some terrines include a weighted press that molds the mixture from all sides. As the meat cooks, the fat within it begins to set, helping the terrine hold its form. The enameled cast-iron pate terrine makes a stylish serving pan for meatloaf, fresh bread, pound cake, or homemade custard — and its temperature retention properties allow the dish to remain hot or cold at the table until the food is ready to serve.

I just made cabbage casserole and was able to get a whole small cabbage to fit chopped up in this baker. It’s easy to clean and lives up to its non-stick name. Ive had this Chasseur rectanglar roaster and a smaller one for over 20 years - two of my favorite pieces in an enormous collection of large cast iron cookware, mostly Le Creuset. This is my go-to piece for roating chicken, either a whole large bird surrounded by carrots, potatoes and onions, or cut up. also works beautuflly for a large, deep lasagna. Clean-up is a breeze. After all these years, some minor discoloration on the interior, but otherwise in terrific shape. Am resisting the temptation to buy another, but highly recommend to anyone considering this - its a piece that will last a lifetime of cooking. Pros Excellent value, easy clean-up, conducts and retains heat well. Cons None. Roni. Hanover, MA. Tue Feb 07 2023
