Great quality little set! 5" seems much smaller once you're holding it. Holds the perfect amount for a table top grinder. There is not an option to change the coarseness of the grind so it is always a very fine consistency. I would splurge and get the larger size if you are a frequent cook. Was looking for a cool mis-matched abstract style salt & pepper mill, so I was thrilled to stumble across this pair of misfits. They are a nice large size, look exactly as pictured, and so far work great. Yes, they do leave debris behind where they sit, but that's been the nature of every mill I've ever owned, so not an issue for me. My only complaint so far is that I haven't found a way to adjust the pepper grind size, so it comes out a bit chunky.
