About 20 years ago I ordered a set of Reed and Barton flatware. It has held up well and still looks nice after years of use and weekly dishwasher exposure.Last week I ordered another set of Reed and Barton to update my kitchen. My order arrived today and I am so pleased with my purchase. In comparison between old and new, the only difference is the new set feels a bit lighter than the old set. I ordered the 1810 metal content and thought it should feel heavier. The style and comfort of this flatware over rides the weight. I love the brilliant shine too! These visually match our original Melon Bud pieces from 20 years ago with two differences. The first and more important difference is that original sets were 188, and these are 1810. The second and barely discernible difference is while the length of the knife is the same, it has a very slightly different curvature. No one would ever be able to notice these differences on your table (it’s tough to see even with two knives in hand looking for the difference) and the pieces still feel nice in hand, which was the original appeal.
