Touch controls are reasonably sensitive and respond without unwanted changes. Unfortunately the outside of the ceramic insert arrived scratched, the packaging was sufficient so I can only assume it occurred before it was boxed up. Does not affect functionality but took away from the sense of newness for the appliance. I did read the instructions and found it completely unreasonable that the insert is listed as top rack dishwasher safe. Love this pressure cooker! I've been using an aluminum PC for years, but recently changed to an induction cooktopand needed an induction compatible PC. It's easy to close the lid securely, to tell when pressure has been achieved, and to quick release the pressure. Yes, it's expensive, but I'll have it the rest of my life and pass it on when I die. One small caveat: I didn't read the description thoroughly and thought that the steamer basket was included. It is not, but I can use a different steamer basket in its place.. Suzanne. Santa Fe, NM.
