This globe stand is an adaptation of one of the most universally recognized furniture designs. It is a modified version of the famous ''Barrel Chair'' originally designed in 1903 and modified for his personal use at ''Taliesin'' in Spring Green, Wisconsin and for Herbert F. Johnson for his home ''Wingspread'' in Racine, Wisconsin in 1937.

Gorgeous piece in our living room. Beautiful hard wood design, nice brass accents, and comprehensive globe locations.. Jeffrey. Kahului, HI. Wed Jul 08 2026

Since ancient times, the column has stood as a functional and decorative standard. This all-metal globe base is reminiscent of that form, yet crafted to reflect modern design. History, architecture, and culture come together in a unique way with this 16'' antique ocean globe.

It arrived very fast, in just 3 days. The stand is very heavy and you have to be careful when moving the globe itself. It comes easily off the rockers that it rests on. This globe stand is an authentic reproduction. It is an unidentified concept for one of the Prairie Homes that is designed in the early 1900s. The only marking on the drawing is in his handwriting and says, ''Something like this.'' The proportions, and interpretation, of the drawing were calculated based on the scale of other drawings from this time period.

Excellent quality and presentation. Highly recommended to pick up any room!. Christopher. Jacksonville, FL. Wed Jul 27 2022

Bought as a gift for my husband. He really enjoys it. Pros - Larger globe size 16"; Easy to view the entire globe-as it rotates fully on the stand; sturdy stand. Cons - Some of the individual segments of the map are slightly off where they meet. Worst one is in photo. Considered returning the globe, but he felt it was not bad enough to return.. Deborah. This is a beautiful globe and wonderful conversation and learning piece. I assembled the globe upon arrival and plugged it in to find out it didn’t light up. I removed the light bulb to find out the light bulb that was installed was the wrong one (it didn’t screw in all the way so wouldn’t light up). I went to the store and got the correct one and it worked perfectly. A bit disappointing for an incorrect light bulb installed on this piece especially considering the overall cost.. Kacy.
