Had we gone with the 13" we wouldn't have to touch up paint around it, but I also like that they aren't that noticeable and something bigger might have been too obtrusive as this is just a small rectangle between multiple rooms. Love them! When I bought my condo they had track Lighting in the office and it was so outdated, ugly, and a total eyesore! I had my Handyman remove them fix the ceiling and then put these in. I wanted something super flush to the ceiling so they didnt draw a lot of attention or make the ceiling feel low as it is a little bit lower in this room. When they were built this was originally supposed to be a patio and they enclosed it for additional living space. I made it an office which isnt completed yet!
