My granddaughter asks that everything be purple, so I got this for her. From looking at the picture, I thought that it would be stiff, and the gold-colored section might be scratchy. But I was wrong. The pillow is velvety smooth and feels the same all over. If you're into geology, you will understand why it is called “geode". (That makes for a great teaching tool for granddaughters, by the way.) There is an invisible zipper, which is always appreciated, so that the pillow cover can be removed and washed.
