Perfect solid wood bed for my needs in a guest bedroom! This bed is excellent, high-quality, and really was not difficult to put together. It was as time-consuming to put together as anyone would think for a solid wood queen size bed (maybe 4 hours total by myself). I am overall impressed with the finished look and quality. I really did not want MDF, but rather a solid looking bed. After putting together the headboard and footboard, you can really tell this is quality pine - they are both so heavy and look fantastic. I also really liked the hardware kit - everything came with little labels and the half moon cams felt secure as you are building this wonderful bed. Now, as for the box spring or bed frame, here's a tip: go with the more low-profile ones if you decide to get the metal box frame I would suggest the lower the better. I decided upon a 5" frame since other reviewer mentioned the 9" was way to high after adding mattress. Well, I used 5" and purchased a nice dreamcloud premier 13" mattress, and IMO it's still too high (see images). Love the bed! It's affordable and exactly what I was hoping for! The sturdy metal cross rails underneath are a real step above my old 1 x 4 wooden slats and this bed is super-sturdy! Don't love having to assemble furniture but will in a pinch. Took me 3 hours alone but could definitely be done much quicker. The ONLY issue or negative I've found is the obvious gaps in the soldering that left appearance of black "holes" in the tops of the spindles. Not a huge issue and I remedied it with white caulk. Point is, since this passed Wayfair's 20 point quality inspection or whatever, customer shouldn't have this issue to deal with. Also, I will mention that, in checking the review photos, I see that a lot of buyers made the same assembly error I did when attaching the extention legs to the headboard because the instructions don't specify that the screws/bolts are to be on the backside so that they don't show. Once I realized this, I did take headboard off and turn it around. It meant having to disconnect the rails and reconnect them but it's a much cleaner look and makes the headboard legs look seamless instead of it being obvious that the legs are added on. This queen platform bed frame is okay for the money spent. The color was exactly as pictured, which I appreciated. It’s not solid wood. It’s MDF with a wood laminate overlay and it definitely doesn’t have a high-end look. There are a lot of pieces to assemble, and not all of them aligned perfectly.
