The chandelier is both modern and versatile. The hand-crafted ash gray colored fabric hardback shades set a pleasant mood. The double drum shades add character to this handsomely styled chandelier. Perfect fit for the dining room and kitchen.
So, I had frustrated and now love feelings about this chandelier and wanted to share my experience. All said and done, I love this light. But it was super frustrating, time consuming, and a massive pain which is why I gave it 4 stars.
1. LOVE the look of the chandelier. I've been in the process of getting rid of all the farmhouse junk and love the modern look of this light. NOW, I was super afraid when I took it out of the box. The inside of the ring is bright orange. Like Halloween orange. I was initially terrified and considered sending it back. I held up the shades a couple times and determined that it wouldn't be that noticeable and I'll give it a try (worst case scenario, I hate it and sell it online. Keep in mind that you have to cut the cords and do a lot of work to this light so not sure about the return policy once you mess with it, so, something to consider).
2. Next and the WORST part is measuring out the cord length, cutting, and stripping wire! I'm pretty handy and did this by myself, but I recommend help if you have it. You have to measure out how long you want each cord and it's not easy. The cord was kinked in places and hard to measure the outside and inside cords because they hang from different places. UGH! Once I got it to the length I wanted, I had to cut the wiring at the top, strip off the black coating and then strip the wire. So much work for a chandelier, but I get it and appreciate that you can customize it. The instructions are HORRIBLE and in broken English so took me a while to figure out that it comes with a little screwdriver that you use to unscrew a tiny plastic screw from the metal part (very little hole), then you can push/pull the cord for your desired length, then tighten again. TIP: once you have the right length, don't make the figure 8 looking clip super tight on the inside of the housing. Give you're self an inch or 2 to work with incase you need to adjust once it's hung. I had to adjust about 1 inch on one side after the cord completely straightened and had just enough. You just unscrew the little screw again and lightly pull or push the cord through, then tighten the little screw. It was not easy getting the fixtures to hang at the same length, so have patience!
3. After ALL that work, the evening came around and I turned on the light and LOVED it. Puts off a very nice glow and is perfect if you hate overhead light or bright chandelier bulbs that shine in your face. Also, hardly noticed the orange on the inside.
