I have had other similar beds where the drawers are made of plastic. I am glad that I paid someone to install it because it took a pro more than an hour. Came in one box very quickly and everything was packed in the storage compartment at the bottom of the bed...The bed is pretty straightforward to put together - took me by myself about 1 hour total and its pretty solid and sturdy. My son loves that metal/faux leather/wood look and its nice to have outlets and space for phone etc at the top of the bed and storage at the bottom.
