Perfect touch for the look that I wanted. I wanted something somewhere between spare contemporary and traditional, which is usually to heavy/fussy for me. This lamp is clean-looking but doesn't look as if it belongs in a cold medical exam-room. I think it fits into the space with a more transitional style without sticking out like a sore thumb. I'm very happy with the result. The uplighting gives the perfect effect for the vaulted ceiling. The lamp is solid and stable. The on/off switch doesn't have the flimsy feel that many others that I've purchased had, so I'm hopeful that this one will hold up longer. I took one star off because assembly was a bit frustrating; I had more than a little difficulty working the electrical cord down inside the tube enough to screw the top of the lamp down completely - a VERY tight fit that took several attempts. Polished Nickel

I really like the design of this lamp, in particular the frosted glass shade. Having said that, there were some issues and that is why I only gave it 3 stars. The first one delivered had damage, specifically the glass shade was broken. Not surprising as the packaging is not very good. Just a thin layer of styrafoam protects the shade in shipment and is certainly not enough. Wayfair is great though and as mentioned, I liked the design so much that I ordered a replacement even though I was concerned the shade wouldnt make it through shipping again but I took my chances. Fortunately nothing was broken this time which is amazing considering the foam protecting the shade is less than an inch thick. The second one I received was obviously a return as none of the protective plastic was covering the pole or base and the very top part of the pole which has 3 heavy glass balls on it, was completely dismantled and all the pieces were loose. It took some time to put it back together securely. As for the rest of putting it together, the 3 pole pieces that screw into each other are VERY hard to put together straight. It appears the threading on the inside of the pole pieces is not well done so it took many times and often jammed at an angle which then was difficult to unscrew and start again. Once completed, it is a very nice light and is quite heavy so will not be tip easily as some floor lamps do.
