The lights give a pretty glow without being too bright. When open, it slants up slightly which was annoying at first, but I’m ok with it now. I love this umbrella. It spreads out really far to cover a wide area. The fabric is sturdy and handles windy day well. The solar lights shine dimly so don't expect them to be extremely bright. The only thing I didn't care for was the direction were just photos with no word explanations and the base requires sand. It is a pretty small basse, so luckily I had a larger base to use with it.. Have had this about a year now. It made it through Texas's last, brutal summer in fine shape. I closed it up and stacked it in a corner outside for the winter, and it made it through that, too.
