While I definitely recommend having two people for assembly, it is possible for one person to put together it will just take considerably longer. There were a few small rough edges during assembly, but once everything was put together, they were barely noticeable thanks to the soft, natural oak color. It took 43 minutes to assemble. Its lightweight but sturdy. It looks like solid wood and very good quality. I appreciate how they packaged the hardware needed. You will need a screwdriver. The only downside for me was the last step of screwing in part number 8 would be easier if you apply it before putting on the top shelf.
