Bells have been used throughout the ages to accompany dance, to provide comfort, and to warn of possible danger. The Chinese were the first to control the pitch or note of a bell, making it possible for them to play tunes. Soon bells were being used to accompany worship. On New Year's Eve, the bells in Buddhist temples are rung 108 times, once for each of the 108 worldly desires. In the East bells have become very important and are often decorated with significant symbols. For centuries, tuned bells have been suspended in homes and temples to ward off evil and attract good luck and prosperity. These ancient bells inspire Woodstock Temple Bells and work harmoniously with the wind to create gentle, soothing tones. In 1979, Grammy(R) Award-winning musician and instrument designer Garry Kvistad created the first Woodstock Chime from an aluminum lawn chair he found in a landfill. Fascinated by the Scale of Olympos, a 7th-century pentatonic scale that can’t be played on a modern piano, Garry cut and tuned the lawn chair tubes to the exact frequency of the ancient scale. The Chimes of Olympos was the first of Woodstock Chimes Wind Chimes and is still one of our best-selling, musically-tuned windchimes. Garry and his wife Diane founded Woodstock Chimes in 1979 and remain based in New York’s Hudson Valley.

This is a lovely little fountain with a small footprint, which is just what I needed. There isn't much noise from either the pump or the water, but it is very pleasant to look at. I do wish I could adjust the colors on the ball to a solid, but it's ok without that option, and I don't know why these fountains don't have an on/off switch because having to reach around and unplug to clean or whatnot is a nuisance. Overall, I'm glad I bought it even though it was rather pricy.. Cathy. Red Deer, AB. Fri Aug 21 2026
