One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! This is a great pergola! I love that it provides an area of shade on my back porch without blocking the sunlight coming into my house completely. The roof itself is light filtering, which is great because it’s not completely blacked out. I love the curtains and mash liner so that I can enclose it if I need to or keep it open. The installation itself was not accurate according to the instruction pamphlet. It only needed two people, but took between six and eight hours to assemble. Nice pergola. Put it together by myself (with the help of a few ladders for temporary bracing. A few things…. There were many dents on several pieces but with overseas shipping I’m surprised there were not even more. It was also missing pieces that I will have to try to add later when hopefully the company will send me the parts. It does let rain through but not in large amounts. It looks very nice with the wood grain post next to the dark gray aluminum frame. The shade glides smoothly on the rails. It was unraveling with hole in it but company hopefully will replace it.. It is very nice and more sturdy that I thought it would be. We didn’t bolt it to the deck because we didn’t want to drill into Trex. But we did bolt it to the house which worked good. The instructions are a little confusing in some parts because the pictures are tiny. And after I sliced my finger pretty good on the metal roof, I understood why they give you gloves. Razor sharp. I ordered this Shade Replacement Canopy for its name. I lost 2 of three huge spruce trees in my yard. Meanwhile we have now got 90” heat while I am trying to rehab the sudden parched weedy dirt whey used to call home.
