I am happy with this Solid Wood Ladder Shelf. I ordered it in the light wood finish, and it looks even better in person. The color is bright and neutral, making it easy to match with the rest of my furniture. It adds a nice decorative touch to the room without taking up a lot of space. Assembly was easy, it only took me 20 minutes to put together and the instructions were straightforward, and all the parts were clearly labeled. I was able to put the entire shelf together by myself without any help. The pieces weren't too heavy, so moving them around during assembly wasn't difficult. Once everything was put together, I was impressed with how sturdy it felt, I wasn’t sure if it would be or not and it was very sturdy. One feature I especially love is that each shelf has a raised lip around three sides. It's a small detail that makes a big difference because it helps keep everything from sliding off the shelves. I don't have to worry about picture frames or small decorations getting bumped off the edge, and it gives the shelf a more refined look. The five shelves provide plenty of storage and display space while still maintaining a modern design. It's perfect for a living room, bedroom, or home office, especially if you're looking to maximize space. this is an excellent piece. The construction is amazing. They only had to put on the legs and the four knobs. I personally think the piece should have been 400.00 to 500.00 less when I compared it with other pieces. I only paid this much because it fit perfect and the style is what I needed. Clean lines, understated looks, and smart storage. Open Plan has this whole simplicity thing down pat. Display all your fine ephemera up top and cram the rest of your belongings behind classy closed doors with absolutely zero judgment.

I finally pulled the trigger on this shelving unit, as it was the perfect size for an odd-sized wall in a rental house. Overall, the piece is solid but has some flaws indicative of flatpack -- small inconsistencies like visible gaps in a few places where they shouldn't be, visible factory-applied adhesive in a few places, and one shelf with an edge cut slightly crooked to where it was a frustration point during assembly. BluDot has consistently and substantially raised their prices over the past couple of years (this shelf has almost doubled in price), but quality seems as though it is not keeping up with the price point. I purchased the low shelf from the same Open Plan series a couple of years ago and it does not suffer from any of the same issues.
