the bookcase is great. the color is slightly off from the pictures but i expected that based on reviews and it matches my other furniture as a result. maybe have more ergonomic philips head screwdriver ready because the one it comes with hurt my palm quite a bit. only complaint is the mechanism to keep the bookshelf from tilting was confusing. im just going to get a different earthquake strap.. Our first bookcase took about four hours to assemble, but by the time we built the second one, we’d learned the process and finished it in under three hours. One tip for future buyers the instructions have you attach the hinges to the cabinet doors first and then install them after the cabinet is fully assembled. We found it much easier to attach the hinge hardware to the cabinet frame before installing the top panel, then attach the doors as the final step. It’s still a little fiddly, but it’s much easier than trying to work in a cramped space with tiny screws. Overall, these bookcases exceeded my expectations. It wasn't difficult to assemble but did take about 6.5 hours to complete with one person, and while it came with a small screwdriver, I would highly recommend just using your own larger screwdriver, if you have it, to spare your fingers.. Pretty easy to build and instructions were easy to follow. Only negative was a gap inbetween the doors that is about a 0.5in gap. Bought 2 of them and the sperate top and bottom halves made it easier for me to put together. Took about an hour to build. These bookshelves look amazing in my craftroom. We purchased 3 of them, each one took my husband approximately 3 hours to put together. He then used his own hardware to secure them together to make it look like one large unit. The doors all open well, the shelving seems sturdy enough for my supplies. I only purchased these because of the huge discount, you get what you pay for. If you are looking for “built in craftsmanship,” this option is not for you. We knew we would be downsizing in a few years and did not want to invest a huge amount of money for built ins. Having said that, these units are the showcase of my craftroom!
