Great shelf. I am honestly debating buying a second because it would fit perfectly against the whole wall in the room. Only thing holding me back is just that this unit does has A BUNCH of parts. I gracefully gave myself two days to split up time to put it together. If you are a person who enjoys tedious instructions then you will be fine with building this. I love this! It’s so much bigger than the three plastic ones I was using before. I wanted the top one a little lower because I was planning to put all of my, and my significant other Dan’s suitcases. Up on the top shelf. One word of advice. When attaching the top and bottom side supports together. Put a shelf in between the two supports. So that it can be stable when you’re finishing the setup. Plus whatever you put there. Can help stabilize it too. Putting this together by myself. Was pretty easy. Although I wished I had an extra hand sometimes. With how wide it is. But I was able to get it altogether by myself. In four hours, and it was done. I put the bottom prices for the bottom part of the legs in. That say to do first in the directions. To not scratch up the floors. But this was going into the garage. So it really didn’t matter. And our house is very old. So the garage floor is old too. I'm impressed with this bookcase. The wood is higher quality than I expected, and it was not too hard to put together. It is a very nice-looking piece of furniture. It looks great in my son’s room, and it fits his books well. My only complaints are that the thin back panel was just slightly too small, so it was tricky to nail into place, and the anti-tip system was not well-designed. The instructions showed it screwed into the fiberboard back panel, which would not be strong enough to prevent it tipping over. I used my own earthquake proofing anti-tip kit, and it worked fine.. I needed a heavy duty shelf unit to store and organize my ammunition. Bought two units as I wanted six shelves on one and only four on a second for bulkier, but not as heavy, items. The units are very sturdy and easy to assemble. Working alone, it took about 30-40 minutes to assemble, but I also moved two shelves due to my miscalculation. I "de-rated" the individual shelves to about 400 pounds due to adding a sixth shelf, and have a total of about 1,800 pounds on the six shelf unit. The "solid" shelves do sink a bit in the middle until they meet the middle brace, and yes, the load is well distributed. It would be much better if the top of the brace matched the elevation of the edge braces. Overall, I am very happy with the shelves and would recommend them if you need to store heavy loads and need/want a smooth surface v. wire shelving. The empty box is on top as a dust shield.. Tom. The box was fairly damaged when it arrived. All pieces were still in it because it was packaged very well! A few of the pieces were bent some but once together it’s not noticeable and it’s still usable. The metal seems to be on the thin side but so far is holding strong.
