I'm a 71 year old female and I didn't have any trouble assembling it all by myself using an electric drill with Phillips head bit, a regular Phillips head screwdriver and a rubber mallet. I have assembled lots of furniture in my life so I was not intimidated. I purchased a 6" mattress for it and it feels comfortable when I lay on it to test it our. I plan to buy a memory foam mattress topper for it as well. It should be a nice option for overnight guests at the little lake place.. Linda. Dallas, TX. Wed Sep 09 2026

Assembly took ~6 person hours with a couple of mistakes that required taking some pieces apart and reassembling. Multiple pieces were not labeled with numbers and the instructions were somewhat difficult to follow. This piece is very sturdy but note that it weighs ~240 lbs in total. Converting it from a cabinet to a bed is definitely a 2 person operation as the top is quite heavy. A 6" trifold mattress just barely fits - it makes it hard to use the latch and puts pressure on the front panel such that it slightly bends outwards. The color (red) was darker in person than pictured. Overall it does seem like a solid piece of furniture and it does look nice.. Maggie. San Francisco, CA. Tue Apr 28 2026

Each step includes a video and important notes. Professional assemble suggested. Mattress must weigh at least 80 lbs. Suggest Mattress Thickness : 8 inch-10inch.Mattress not included. Installation requires secure to wood studs or masonry. Anti-tip hardware for brick/concrete walls is included. Have one person hold or sit on the empty bed frame when installing the hydraulic system to prevent pinch injuries. Please do not remove the iron straps compressing the hydraulic rods until you attach them to the body. Removing it early will cause the rod too long to fit into the predrilled hole.

Exactly what we were looking for in this space. It took about 4 hours from box cutting to finish, directions were easy to follow, only had to backtrack once or twice to make sense of something that could have gone 2 ways (the rails). It folds out easily for one person, there is a drawer for pillows/blankets/sheets, and we got a 6" tri-fold memory foam mattress the folds right into the cabinet spot.
