I purchased two of these units with the intention of placing one on each side of the bed. Unfortunately, I didn't realize until after assembling the first one that the door is designed to open in only one direction.
With some planning and DIY experience, I was able to modify the second unit by mirroring the hardware mounting locations and drilling the necessary holes so the door would open the opposite way. However, this required additional work and may not be something everyone is comfortable doing.
