Relatively easy install, just took time. Solid construction. There is a metal bar that runs under top bunk, that I purchased pipe foam insulation to cover it as I knew it was just a matter of time before a child hit there head really hard on it. While solid wood, it does indent/mark easily, I have two rambunctious boys who quickly put multiple dents in it and cracked the wood where the ladder attaches by pulling up on the ladder, but probably sonething similar would happen with any bed that we got!. We recently updated my mother's bedroom, and one of the biggest changes was purchasing this Twin over Full bunk bed that she had been wanting. Overall, we are very pleased with it. The bed is solid and sturdy for the price, and the color looks great in the room. Assembly wasn't particularly difficult, but there are a lot of pieces, so I recommend giving yourself plenty of space to organize everything before you start. We also added a few extra slats for additional mattress support, which worked out well. For the lower full-size bunk, we purchased the 9" Plush Cooling Gel Hybrid Mattress by Zinus, and it's been comfortable for her to sleep on. Instructions were clear to understand for the most part, the only advice Id give is to number the hardware cause Im not much of a builder an a lot of them looked the same. As a mom of boys, I’ve purchased and assembled several bunk beds over the years to know that these are my favorites to date. I was able to put the bunks together in an hour by myself without any issues. The bunk is sturdy, and I have no concerns about stability or the bed slats coming out, as they snap into place. The attached ladder doesn't take up floor space or block access to the bottom bunk. The height of the bottom bunk not only prevents anyone from bumping their head but also gives my boys a lounge space to read or watch TV. My only complaints are that I wish the upper side rails were higher since current mattresses are not thin, so our mattress sits flush with the rail. We use a pool noodle under the sheet along the rail for extra peace of mind. If your mattress is on the thinner side, you won’t have any issues. The second is that I wish the clearance underneath was just an inch or two taller, as it wouldn’t impact the bottom bunk and would allow larger totes to be stored under the bed. I mainly bought this because I like how you can transition it into two separate full sized beds and they look great. Only need one bed right now so the other is stored under with the trundle. My only wish was that this version had storage drawers instead of a trundle, but I’ve made it work. Delivery was fast and online time. No damage to the boxes or bed! I absolutely love the quality. Looks great, feels great, and it was fairly easy to put together. The instructions may not be the best for someone that’s not really handy. It took me about 6 hours to include bringing in the boxes, opening them all and tearing them all down, tying up the boxes. and then assembling the bed. Great piece. Safe for a 12 and 9 year olds weight. Sturdy and easy to clean. I got the one with the book shelf and it had lots of storage for books and other toys. The assembly went decently well. My DIL put it together with my granddaughter holding pieces once in awhile. Took about 8 hours. Hint: do not tighten down until it is assembled, including the ladder. Update: They still love the bed, and I thought i'd add a picture. The wood is more like a rustic whitewash. It doesn't look as well as the picture and who ever shipped it, left it in the rain. The box was falling apart, and luckily I found it and took every piece in by hand, and dried them off. No damage done, but It was unnecessary to leave it like that in the rain when they could have left it next door at my parent's who have an over covering on their porch. Both DIL and granddaughter got on top bunk. It felt sturdy and didn't move around. We did get a bunky board for top because mattress is foam. The girls love it and are having fun putting their dolls and stuffys around. Very unhappy with delivery. Boxes falling apart. Fed ex stood one up at bottom of deck stairs. We are having g sporadic thunder storms. No plastic was place around packages, so the box fell apart and all the wooden pieces fell and were rained on. I had a mess! I had to remove one piece at a time into home and dry it off. It took a couple people a few hours dealing with two wet opened boxes. The bed was poorly packaged and fed ex left a mess!
