They provide good support and make it much easier to get in and out of the chair. Overall, it looks great, feels comfortable, and seems like it will last for years. Definitely one of those purchases that makes you wonder why you didn’t get it sooner. I chose Polywood for no maintenance, heavyweight, and longevity. I assembled this myself. No issues. Best advice is to not tighten all the screws so you are able to move pieces a little while assembling. Then go through and tighten all when complete. Followed instructions. All hardware included.
