This is a very nice cat shelter for the feral cat that has moved into my yard . Very simple to assemble, sturdy and looks like it will hold up in the Midwest weather. The roof is hinged and the floor is removable. To insure that the floor is not pushed up by a predator, I added two bricks inside the shelter. Love this little cathouse! My husband and I built a deck to elevate the house for our two stray cats. They haven’t gone inside yet, but have been up on the deck to eat and check out the house. My feral cat had kittens in this box about 4 months ago and has been sleeping in it at night ever since. She goes underneath to lay in the shade, and also sits on top of the house to get a view. It’s cute watching her teach her kitten how to use it. Whole thing is insulated in the interior and made of wood. The wood will start to split in the weather which hasn’t affected it structurally so far, but if you’re handy it would make sense to cover the exterior with a coat of poly. This was SUPER easy to put together, took maybe 15 minutes, and just the right size to tuck away in the flower bed. The pieces fit together snug which will keep nasty weather out. The composite material that it is made of is a nice weight and will be easy to clean. I like that there are two doors and that they are placed away from one another so either could be used as an escape route if necessary. Overall a great product! Nice, sturdy outdoor house. Placed in a protected area near our back door from wind/rain and snow. When winter comes we will insulate the 2 window openings and place a portable heating pad (warm it up in the microwave and releases warmth for several hours) under bedding. It is outside for the stray cats, although I don’t know if they have used it. Very nice. It is in a space with a few feet of space around it before it is surrounded on three sides by a fence and the fourth side is an AC unit. Has made it through hard rains with the interior staying dry.
