One year ago I bought a cheaper pergola from another company; it had the nylon roof you pull back with a cord, no side screens available. The roof was flimsy and noisy whenever there was a breeze, and if you forgot to close it tight before a rain, the weight of the water was going to tear it . It actually wasn’t 10x10 as advertised, maybe 9x9, and the sun came under the east & west sides, no you were seldom shielded from the sun. So I tried Wayfair after noticing my neighbor’s, got the same one only I ordered the pulldown screens for 2 sides. It also has a louvered metal roof ( huge improvement), we love it! ​Great pergola and easy assembly, but with a couple of issues ​We really like this pergola, and the whole family is thoroughly enjoying the shade it provides on our deck. It was quite easy to assemble (we only needed two people for the posts and main beams) and I was able to do the rest by myself. ​However, there are a couple of things worth pointing out. As shown in the photos, some of the holes on the beams were not pre-drilled, which made installation a bit more difficult. Additionally, the hook used to move the louvers arrived with rust spots and a poor finish, which is disappointing for a brand-new item. I’m not sure we could be happier with our gazebo. After spending time budgeting and planning a build-from-scratch project, this became clear to us that it was more affordable and frankly better looking. We love the size of the posts and the look of the metal roof. We are looking to add lights and fan(s) in the near future. Ours is a 15x13. We would consider ourselves very handy with tools and construction. It took four of us (two in our twenties and two in our forties) a three day weekend to put this together. I love this gazebo! It was not easy to put together, it took 4 of us about 7 hours. But I absolutely love it! It's well made and feels like it's going to last a long time. The 4 posts are not solid wood, they feel hollow and if you look close you can see the seams in the wood where they put it together. But I still love it. It shipped in 4 boxes, and you'll definitely need 2 people to move the boxes around. The hooks are nice, I have 2 battery operated pendant lights hanging from them and it looks great! Im somewhere between 4 and 5 on this. The packaging is horrible so many parts were damaged. Wayfair gets a 5 out of 5 for getting replacements ordered for me quickly. The replacements were packed just as poorly so some got damaged as well but they sent extras so it was not a problem. Sent from the manufacturer so none of that is Wayfairs fault. Instructions were just okay. Not always super clear. Some bolts really wanted to cross thread. Im happy with the look and function. Its not going to keep every drop of water out in a storm but itll do an adequate job. It could be a little sturdier but I dont think you can find better for the price. Im telling everyone about Wayfair customer service. I expected to have to contact the manufacturer myself and be lucky to get a response. We love our 15x13 louvered pergola. Looks really nice and expensive and feels solid. It took an experienced crew of 2 about 3 hours to install but I know ot would've taken me and a friend at least 6-8 hours as it'll take longer to read the instructions and plan the steps etc. whereas the experienced pergola installers went right into it. The louvers work well and are the best thing abiut this compared to our previous gazebo. You can bring in as much light as you want while controlling direct sunlight, but make sure you decide which way they should open (by rotating the whole pergola) as that dictate if you can control direct sunlight. The lights are solar with 1 smallish panel but they lasted more than 4 hours on the couple of occasions we used them, and likely would've lasted longer if we needed then. The shipment packaging is extremely well done and even though there was damage to the boxes, the product was sufficiently protected had no damage due to shipping. The 12x20 pergola I ordered is close to 1000 pounds shipping in 7 boxes so the heaviest single box is about 150 lbs so two people are needed to move it around. The instructions recommended 4 people for the install. I had my brother to help but due to the weight I wanted 6 people (one at each post) to move the assembled product to minimize damage to the frame. High quality parts all around but because it’s all aluminum that is great for lower weight but it is still 1/2 ton of weight that needs to be moved around during an installation.
