Wasn’t too hard to install if you have the right tools for a brick house. Hubby needed an excuse to get a new hammer drill. We tried to get a contractor to install but it was too hard to get a call back. After a month we just installed ourselves. Turned out nice. Had this professionally installed and mounted the post in concrete blocks to give more stability. The metal pieces itself is lightweight aluminum but when connected together it’s sturdy. Only gripe are the shade connector poles. Their means of connecting could be improved because they slide off & disconnect from one another every now & then but so far holds up well with rain when shade is pulled back. I purchased a 10 foot and an 8‘ x 10 pergola. We put them side-by-side and we have created a beautiful area which will be a setting area and a hot tub area. I absolutely love this awning. It’s exactly what I was looking for. It is very well priced and looks very pretty. Sorry for the delayed review, but I did need to hire someone to install it. The assembly and install were a little challenging, even for a master electrician. It wasn't the level of difficulty but rather very vague instructions and more than one incorrect picture. However, we prevailed. Warning: DO NOT remove the tape and zip ties from the arms of the hardware. They are spring-loaded and should not be released until the awning has been hung. Otherwise, it'll be like trying to put a cat in a bucket of water. (we were smart about this) To assemble, have a helper on standby to pull the awning through the roller channel while someone else pushes it. A kid can help with this part. One person can assemble the main hardware. To install the brackets to the home, one person is fine as long as they have the correct drill bits and measure correctly. The brackets are great quality; however, they may not sit flush and level to the wall. We placed 2x2 blocks of wood behind each bracket to fill the empty space and make the install strong and level. To install the awning, you'll want a strong teen or adult to assist. They will need to hold one side of the awning and the hardware while standing on a ladder, as both people insert the hardware into the brackets on the structure.. Anonymous. Fri Aug 28 2026

I had installers handle the installation and other than some challenges with drilling it into my cement pad, it seemed to go fine. It certainly looks nice, however, there is no way to affix mosquito netting/screen to it due to the width/square shape of the rim around the top edge. This pergola does a good job of protecting from the sun and cooling down the atmosphere.it also helps to keep pesky bugs away! It took about 3 hours to assemble with only one person. Although the instructions could have been more clearer, it wasn’t too difficult to assemble. It looks pretty and exactly as it was advertised online. However, I did order the larger twelve by ten feet pergola but it was not the size I received. I had my concrete slab measured and then installed a concrete pad according to the measurements provided online. This is because my patio’s concrete slab was too small for it and the pergola must be installed onto a leveled foundation. However, while installing the pergola, we noticed it was too short about two feet. It measured ten by ten feet. Since it isn’t a very large and heavy pergola, we were able to just purchase a concrete pad to install it onto. It seems pretty sturdy and holds up well. Overall, I do recommend this pergola for anyone looking to add a stylish addition to their backyard. It is low maintenance and a quick one day project. It provides good protection from the sun while keeping bugs away. Although I received the smaller size, it is still large enough to accommodate a dining table with seating for six people. Appearance wise, it looks very pretty, exactly as advertised online. It is a modern look with the matte black and beige shade. It is neutral to most decor and easy to blend with patio furniture..
