For everyday use, I keep it at the 38-inch setting, which is perfect for my dining space and comfortably accommodates four place settings. I’m looking forward to extending it to the full 55 inches for holiday dinners. My only criticism is the assembly. This is definitely a two-person job, and the instructions provided were not very helpful. It took us close to four hours, and we ultimately had to find a YouTube video to figure it out.
