This is a very nice cat shelter for the feral cat that has moved into my yard . Very simple to assemble, sturdy and looks like it will hold up in the Midwest weather. The roof is hinged and the floor is removable. To insure that the floor is not pushed up by a predator, I added two bricks inside the shelter. Love this little cathouse! My husband and I built a deck to elevate the house for our two stray cats. They haven’t gone inside yet, but have been up on the deck to eat and check out the house. My feral cat had kittens in this box about 4 months ago and has been sleeping in it at night ever since. She goes underneath to lay in the shade, and also sits on top of the house to get a view. It’s cute watching her teach her kitten how to use it. Whole thing is insulated in the interior and made of wood. The wood will start to split in the weather which hasn’t affected it structurally so far, but if you’re handy it would make sense to cover the exterior with a coat of poly. There was a slight issue when putting it together with one of the parts they made the holes for the eaves in the front on the inside as opposed to being on the outside. Everything else fit perfect. My indoor/outdoor cat loves this house. It was easy to put together, the built-in heater works great, and it’s the perfect size for a larger cat (mine is 14 lbs). I even placed a camera inside so I can check whether he’s in there. I did make a few small modifications—specifically shortening the legs—because he was hesitant to go inside at first. My suspicion that the height was the issue turned out to be correct; the very next day, he happily went into his house. It's very well insulated as well.
