It lays fairly flat, but you’ll definitely want a rug pad or some heavier furniture on it to keep it from sliding around. We needed a living room rug that would blend in with our floral chairs and accent the room nicely. We like rugs with thicker piles. This rug worked perfectly. The colors are muted enough to not fight with our chairs. It is a bit more yellowish than the picture showed but it works for us. The carpet layer smooth from the beginning. For this rug in the blue color and I love it. So soft, very pretty. The colors are vibrant.
