A large floor torchiere 71" tall in an Elephant motif. The item was created with good detail by the artist and depicts 3 elephants facing outward atop a large fluted ionic column with trunks proudly raised of which a light shade is attached on their backs. The item is hand-cast in resin with a metal rod for support and is completely hand-finished with brown tones and lighter tones drawing a contrast to details, the shade is cast in an antique white translucent resin for emitting light. This is a popular item and customers often order 2 for balance and symmetry. This item is part of our Elephant collection and also pairs nicely with the matching bowl and candleholder set from the same Elephant collection for customers wishing to theme decorate a larger space. Very nice lamp. Two things to consider. First, it's not as tall as I thought it would be. That's on me as I didn't measure the height before purchasing it. Second, the main material of the shade is not glass. it's plastic which I could tell by tapping on it. The description said that it was glass. Stained glass is handcrafted using the same technique that was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany in the early 1900s. Glass types and colors are designed using metallic salts during manufacturing. Each piece of real glass is hand-cut and copper foil is wrapped around each individual piece. The glass pieces are then welded by hand to create one-of-a-kind designs. As part of the finishing process, oil is added to the outside of the design to protect the metal from erosion. The beauty of stained glass is its versatility when illuminated by light.
