The traditional round shaped light is wrapped in a broad black strip with a wood grain interior and a bright white shade. When it lights up, you can clearly see the wood grain color of the inner layer, like the forest at night.

We replaced an old fluorescent fixture with this LED fixture. Our house was built in 1939, but I'd date the the original fixture from the 1990s. This light is well-priced and, in turn, the "wood" does not look much like wood (photos attached). It is a cheap plastic imitation made to look like wood, and even less than the product photos suggest. I know this is a tradeoff for the price. It looks metallic (more gold than wood) when the light is on. Installation was simple enough, but please know that light is attached to the bracket upon arrival so you'll want to twist it off before installation. With our older wiring, we didn't have a green ground screw (existing wires were already grounded), so we capped the provided copper ground wire. The light it a very warm/yellow light -- not a natural/white sunny light -- and I don't know yet if this will feel like too little light. This is an upgrade from what we had -- a fluorescent light that took a few seconds to blink on to minimal visibility -- and is a good price. Without exaggeration I have removed and replaced at least 100 light fixtures in my time and this has to be one of the easiest I ever have installed. The domed canopy cover on the fixture allows for it to be easily attached to the mounting strap on the outlet box so you dont have to struggle trying to tuck excess wire into the junction box. The fixture was easily installed in 5 minutes. My only problem was with the globe style shade. It does not fit over a standard size bulb. I knew that from reading the reviews and had purchased the bulb recommended by other reviewers. Unfortunately that didnt work either. I had to resort to a standard base candle type bulb. The fixture will only handle 40 w Max so do not depend on this fixture for more than ambient lighting. I still love the style and it works for me. I consider it a good value for the money.. Sandra.
