The storage space underneath the cushion is only covered by some thin wood slats knit together so I wouldn't trust falling down onto that cushion. Comfort-wise it's a little stiff, some nice, soft pillows would definitely help. It is a really nice couch. As you can see I got 2 from the same designer and love them both. If you are a couch potato and love sleeping, laying down and spending too much time on the couch in general, it may not be your best couch.
