This bed came with two boxes that arrived on separate dates. I was excited about it at first, but have been feeling a bit, overwhelmed with the idea of having to build it now. I am updating my review after building the bed. It took two men to build 3 12 hours. The instructions on where to place the ladder could’ve been made more clear. The wood is very solid nice smooth finish the white oak is nice. I don’t think that this bed would show well. Actual wood materials throughout which is nice. Natural color different than pictured. Trundle option is great however, wood, hardware and wheels seem a little flimsy. My 10 year old has the top bunk and my 2 year old has the bottom.. while it is a beautiful bed, I will say that when my 10 year old at 110 pounds moves around you can definitely feel movement and wobbling from below, but there is a steel bar that runs underneath the top bunk that reassures me that it is secure. It took us a about 3 hours to build, just make sure that the headboard and footboard are in the right facing position bc we had to redo ours. I also will note that the headboard and footboard slats dont fit in snuggly and are wobbly. Pine wood is a softer wood and I am already aware of some dings and dents but am still happy that this is not an MDF product so should hope last still for some years. We absolutely love these bunk beds! We’ve had them for a couple of years now, and they have held up really well. We especially love how versatile they are. You can easily convert them into two separate beds, and the ability to change the ladder placement has been so convenient as our kids’ room and needs have changed. The drawers underneath have been a total lifesaver for storage, especially in a kids’ room where you can never have enough! And the railing on the top bunk is perfect for our oldest. It gives me a lot of peace of mind knowing she has that extra security while sleeping up top. My only complaint, and the reason I’m knocking off a star, is that for the price, I expected the overall quality and finish to be just a little better. We have some noticeable marks and fading where the drawers open and close, and the wood/finish has dented and gotten marked up fairly easily over the years. It’s not anything that affects the functionality, but for how much these cost, I would expect them to look a little better after normal everyday use. That being said, they are VERY sturdy, and I have never once worried about my kids’ safety while they’re sleeping in them, which honestly, is the most important thing to me. They’ve held up through years of kids climbing, playing, and sleeping in them, and overall we’ve been really happy with them. I just wish the finish was a little more durable for the price!. The bunk bed looks great all set up and feels sturdy! The stained finish looks great! I do think the beds are darker in person than what the picture shows but I like them! The set up went well. There were a couple of pieces that were not labeled but it was not difficult to determine which ones were which.
