Mateo Narrow Etagere Bookcase

This airy take on an etagere bookcase is defined by the asymmetric back supports that lend a structural silhouette to its frame. Crafted from metal, this bookcase delivers the pared-down, open look of an etagere with its slim frame. Central supports alternate between the front and the back of the shelves, creating a staggered, asymmetric look. And with five shelving tiers, there's plenty of room for books and decor. This slim bookcase is available in two sizes, and both are sized to fit into spaces short on square footage.

This shelf is stunning! From the description, I did not expect it to be so sleek and mid-century modern, but it completely fits the space and is exactly what I was looking for to show my detailed wall behind it. Anonymous. New Orleans, LA. Mon May 04 2026

Very sturdy. The hikes, however should be tighter so the washers don’t crack the wood when tightening.. James. Altoona, PA. Tue Sep 01 2026

Made from rich veneered walnut and a black powder-coated steel frame, the bookcase brings a modern flair to your space. It gives you the storage you need to display your favorite books and decor and features hidden storage space for the things you don't want everyone to see. Pair two of these besides a matching Redford desk and you have yourself a home office look that is sure to make all the real offices jealous.

Ultimately, I love the finished product, but the instructions were wrong and it was manufactured with the pilot holes in poor or downright wrong locations. If you don’t have a drill, don’t buy.. Ethan. Tue Jul 14 2026

A five-tiered etagere with a black marble top for each tier and a nickel finished brass frame, this console is the perfect mix of elegance and practicality.

Exuding an artisan chic vibe, this electronics-ready wall unit inspired by an artist’s scaffold has 5 fixed shelves and a middle shelf with a removable center section to allow for TV space to accommodate up to a 65 ½ -inch wide TV. Crafted of organic Acacia Veneers and metal tubing in a casual distressed natural wood finish with a metal frame.

Looks Beautiful! Very solid construction, weights a ton. Wood color is spot-on to the Photos, after a quick Polish (Pledge). Only thing I'd say that differed from wayfair photo is the Metal color is lighter than I thought it would be. Very much a lighter/mid gray than a dark/black gray.. Schulz. Potomac Falls, VA. Ordered two of these. Built the first no problem and looked great! Second one had a wrong shelf included. Wayfair was able to resolve and send a new one. Love the look overall but question the vendor who packs the item for accuracy.. Callan. San Luis Obispo, CA. Mon Oct 05 2026

Had two of us put together, easy to follow directions, best if unpackaged all items before starting, sort and count screws to where they go. Bookcase was well packaged, a few tears in box, did not affect bookcase at all. The 80 inch tall bookcase looked great in our higher ceiling living room.. Jk. SD. Fri Sep 18 2026

A lovely case that was inspired by 19th-century Italian originals. The square top rests over a series of shelves and low drawers for display and storage. Moldings are accented by gilt detailing with brass hardware. Furniture and upholstery appearances can vary and are not guaranteed due to the inherent variation of all natural materials, including wood color, wood grain, leather, and stone material and finish. Upholstered seat heights may vary up to 1” due to crown variances and foam thickness. Product matches are not guaranteed if ordered at different times.

The bookcase appeared to be a kind of mellow brown tone with the wood grain showing through and in person it’s virtually black with no wood grain showing. Catherine. CA. Sun Dec 20 2020

Really nice bookcases - very strong and well-made, which is important to me since they’re going to be loaded with books and a couple of vintage typewriters. There are a couple of scratches in the wood but nothing I can’t fix. I ordered 2 and they arrived within the estimated delivery date and the delivery and setup was perfect. Truly a great experience.. I love this line of furniture - I already have two of the larger bookcases, a dresser, and several side tables. If I had more space, I'd have the tables and desks as well lol. Alejandro. Tampa, FL. Fri Jun 19 2026

We love etagere bookcases like this one for their airy designs that make them a platform for showing off and organizing. It's made from metal in a distressed white finish. Plus, it features an open, tiered design with X-shaped accents on the sides for a breezy look with farmhouse appeal. Four shelves give you space to stow and sort everything from your favorite titles to a plant or two. Since this bookcase measures 16" square at the base and gets smaller the higher it gets, it's ideal for slipping into narrow nooks around your home.

First, I have to say I love the overall look. I will be painting the shelves, as the finish is very obviously done by a machine and there is no variation from shelf to shelf, which defeats the patina with age look. The big problem though is the wobble. Nothing seems to be flat, straight or square. I was able to solve the problem by anchoring the pieces together. Still in all, I do love the piece and it's perfect for my needs, manufacturing issues notwithstanding.. Jeani. Alameda, CA. Wed Jun 19 2024

The metal frame with open back and end panels is finished in gold, with three stationary wooden shelves in the rich mocha coloration. The gentle wire brushing on the shelves highlights the oak grain.

This bookcase was exactly what I was looking to discover for my Client! It is elegant, looks super high end and is the exact size I needed. You don't find many etageres of this quality in this size. I love and so does my Client. Would definitely purchase again.. Shiloh. Sleepy Hollow Ny. Mon Aug 19 2024

Bookcase is sturdy and great size. Only bad part was there were already scratches on the finish coming out of the box. It took forever for shipping so it wasn’t worth trying to exchange. . Tadrah. Phoenix, AZ. Sat Aug 29 2020
