The beautiful solid seat , or bench, or end table, is carved of the stump or root of the cedar. It can be used outside or indoor, adds a natural accent to the garden, pation, deck or any indoor area. Each one is different, and no two pieces are alike, as they are hand made and carved by skilled artisans, interepreting the wood shapes, paterterns, and characters of the tree. The origional tree name is called Shan tree or Shan wood, which grows abundantly in the mountain areas. The stumps are the left-over product of the logging, reclaimed prior to the re-planting, hand made by the local craftmans. They are beaufiful, practical, functional, works perfect with any designs, especially with the rustic, western, or country decorations or home design ideas. Checking occurs when the logs dry and the cells shrink causing the wood to split. This does not weaken the wood. Checking helps give cedar furniture its rustic beauty. Won't it be nice to have a unique yard piece that even your neighbors will envy?

From here it is kiln-dried to further remove moisture and the bark tightens around the logs during the process providing a truly beautiful texture, and a time-tested look and durability. Although this is a very labor-intensive piece to make, the tops are completely handmade using reclaimed wood from antique doors. The legs are hand-distressed in antiqued colors. Each one is unique and will vary slightly. We have this reclaimed top old door bench in three distressed colors. The color refers only to the color of the legs.

They feature a 2-tone color scheme of the brown seat and backrest frame combined with our traditional bronze side frames and art castings. This recreates the look of the traditional wood slat garden bench without maintenance. These benches have threaded inserts in both the backrest and seat. This means that they assemble with only 8 bolts. No washers, nuts, or caps. This is the cleanest looking and easiest to assemble bench you can find.
