This is the best idea ever, I love it! I was not thrilled about a dark color so I took fabric and glue gunned it all around the wood pieces after I assembled most of it, their was enough room to do this and it worked great. I used a soft upholstry fabric and also laid batting on the broad surfaces. The mechanism works great and does not shut unless you pull it down. I purchased the queen-size version and also paid for a person through Wayfair to bring the box upstairs and install it. I have slept on the bed for 3 weeks and so far the bed exceeds my expectations. It is beautiful and feels heavy and stable. It does not squeak or move around. I placed the bed on the carpet and the drawers still move in and out easily. Drawers are made of solid wood. I have had other similar beds where the drawers are made of plastic. I am glad that I paid someone to install it because it took a pro more than an hour. This Queen size bed headboard has three height sizes and storage! Assembly was about 4-5 hours, however another person was needed to add the hydraulic platform. Every part assembled was sturdy and seemed to be well made. I was expecting, maybe some sort of “board” to be at the bottom of the storage area instead of just a piece of material. However, it will definitely work as a dust guard. The framing fabric is soft and tightly woven (I didn’t see any loose thread). The hydraulic lift is controlled with a strap, and also has a locking strap to prevent uncontrolled pop-ups and the slats have attachment connectors to stay positioned.
