Unbelievable quality, love the beautiful soft pink/lavender color of Shallot, and while I haven't cooked with this product (I've used many other le Creuset items, and I know the quality's there), I can see this dish being used for au gratin potatoes, pork chops, pork loin, roasted vegetables, cobbler, and I'm sure dishes I haven't thought of. I have seen too many reviews, saying it leaks all over when pouring because they’re trying to pour through the whistle opening rather than the kettle opening! Honestly, some people should not be allowed to write reviews if they don’t understand how to use the simplest of products!! My first kettle is 20 years old and I only bought a new one because I changed my kitchen color scheme. Over the years that kettle heated water on gas, electric, and wood stoves with never a problem . LeCreuset never disappoints, I love this oval bread oven, I have a round one and when this shape became available, I did not hesitate. I have used other brand enameled cast iron or ceramic pots to bake bread, none come close to the LeCreuset in quality and consistency of the finished loaf. Putting the loaf on a shallower portion of the unit as opposed to into a deep pot is easier and when removing the top for the final portion of the bake more of the loaf is exposed so there is a more consistent crust..
