Okay! SO- first time chicken owner here. We live in Maryland and are raising chicks and ducks from babies. We live in the woods and therefore have a ton of natural predators. The coop on its own is not SUPER sturdy, but not the worst quality I have seen and works well for a yard that slopes. There are some gaps, so we enclosed the top and bottom with hardware mesh stapled into the wood and secured with cement blocks just to be sure everything would be safe, and so far so good! The cover seems like it will be reasonable for the raincolder temps. Used Wayfair assembly service, which was good but it did take 3 men four hours to assemble just FYI. Overall, happy!. Anonymous. The large chicken coop comes with a chicken run and has two large nesting boxes. The chicken house has four perches with large removable sliding trays for easy cleaning. I made quite a few modifications to make this coop more useful. I used strong magnets across the top so we could reach into the run. We added stair tread to the roost ramp so our ladies didn’t slip around anymore. I’d planned to use a solar door opener to let the gals in and out, but I was one day over the 30 day return window and Wayfair wouldn’t let me return it even for store credit. The chicken coop is a great product, perfect for beginners and experienced chicken owners alike! The construction was straightforward and the instructions were easy to follow. It took about 4 hours to build. It would be perfect for a backyard. The run is small so I wouldn’t have more than 6-10 chickens if you’re not planning to free range. We will free range so I would be comfortable housing more in there. It is convenient height for collecting eggs and cleaning out waste. We are very happy with this chicken coop! We did opt to set it up on cinder blocks. It gives the chickens additional room to roam. We added the pen that came with the coop onto the side of a large kennel pen that we also purchased from Wayfair.. Rita. WA. Mon Sep 15 2025

Simple to assemble. Lots of big pieces. Took less than an hour with me and 2 children. They handed me screws and held boards in place. Seems like good quality and has a metal roof. Two things I didn’t like was no ramp inside the coop and no perch’s for sleeping at night. I can rig something up but that defeats the purpose of buying pre fabricated. A few weeks later the hardware is staring to come loose on the doors and I’ve needed to replace the locking mechanisms. The coop is quite large, but a pretty simple build. Simple enough that I was able to do as a project with my little ones. Didn’t find any problems with the instructions - all were written pretty clearly and simply. No mistakes and nothing left out. We were worried about the coop in the Louisiana weather, but the PVC roof is large enough and pitched correctly to keep water off the sides and out of the coop. Great product! Our Large Chicken Coop, sized 61"L x 38"W x 40.2"H (11.53 ft²), is ideal for backyard poultry keeping. It can house 2–5 adult chickens with a well - planned layout for rest, nesting, and daily activities. It has dual - side nesting boxes with 6 compartments and openable lids for easy egg collection. Smaller than what is projected in the picture, but true to size of the dimensions that were provided. Some of the pieces came in damaged, such as the corners of the two nest box lift doors on the sides that are not intact and will need to be repaired. Not a setup I would leave uncovered / exposed to the elements as the materials are thinner / less sturdy than expected for something to house animals. This is a great chicken coop for my 7 chicks! It went together fairly easy, and overall it's pretty sturdy! I'll probably take a couple extra measures to really predator proof it, but it's perfect for backyard chickens. My only concern is that the black asphalt roof started separating peeling off of the lip of the roof. Might just be from the hot Arizona heat, though. I do like that it has multiple access doors and it has the slide out tray for cleaning. The chicks love jumping up on the roosting bars and the chicken swing is a nice touch!
