The headboard is beautiful. It was too heavy on delivery for my husband and me to bring it in off the porch but we unpacked it on the porch and carried each panel inside. Assembly was easy and so was positioning, as we just slid it into place. The adhesive tape provided to stick it to the wall is pretty pointless; it was packaged in such a way that part of it stuck to itself. But it wasn’t really necessary because the weight of the bed keeps the headboard upright. There was a pretty strong smell of varnish the first few days but it has diminished over time and was no worse than when my husband refinished a project in the basement. I did purchase a 2-inch box spring to provide additional support for our 14-inch mattress. Even with the box spring, there is still plenty of headboard visible, and the overall look is beautiful. The frame comes with four support slats, and each slat has two legs that extend to the floor for added stability and support. I was initially worried that the quality might be lacking or that the bed would feel rickety, but neither of those concerns turned out to be true. The craftsmanship appears to be very good, the bed is sturdy, and it looks fantastic in our bedroom. I would absolutely purchase this bed again and would confidently recommend it to others.
