they are sturdy once you have the dirt in them, but seem a bit flimsy when empty. Be careful filling them, as I had my neighbor help me fill with his john deer and we had to go very slowly and level the dirt in layers so it didnt warp the shape. These stands seem very sturdy, they look nice and I think they are a good size. They did take a while to assemble, because of so many screws by me using a screwdriver. This is a great raised garden bed. We did get chicken wire and put it under the entire structure, so moles and gophers couldn't come up through it, and believe me they have tried. The flaps are great when harvesting the back side of the plants. I didn't give this a 5 star, because the gate doesn't stay shut without propping something on it or placing a rock pile under it. There is a tiny bit of rus ton the bolt in the middle that connects that different pieces but not any amount that causes me concern.
