The remote control is a must, but it works great with the thermostat so I just set the temperature I like and that’s it! The room stays at a comfortable temperature. My husband was able to do most of the installation. It was relatively easy to install the unit on the wall with parts that are included, we only had a certified electrician do the the connection and final install of the unit. This is a great little dehumidifier. We got it for our basement because our old one was getting old and starting to have problems. This one is smaller and a lot quieter. Looks pretty good and was very easy to set up. Doesn’t come with batteries, that was a bit annoying. Reasons for not giving a 5 it’s not as smart as other trash cans I’ve used where if you open it and it senses that you’re still emptying something, it will stay open. This one just closes after the number of seconds, on top of your hands. You can keep it open but you have to push the Open thing and then it doesn’t close automatically, you have to push Close to close it.
