Seems to be made of good quality except the screen on top. In less than a week outside it looks like the screws have already begun eroding. It is also concerning that it doesn’t sit flush with the top allowing bugs to get inside. Definitely not interested in a mosquito breeding ground. We installed this rain barrel today, just in time for a major storm, which gave us the perfect opportunity to see how it performed in real-world conditions. Initially, we noticed water overflowing from the top of the barrel. After some troubleshooting, we discovered that the mesh liner included with the unit was not allowing water to flow through properly. Once we removed the mesh liner, the rain barrel worked exactly as expected and handled the rainfall without issue. The barrel itself looks great and blends beautifully with the brick exterior of our home. It has a much more attractive appearance than many of the plastic rain barrels we’ve seen. Our only concern is that without the included mesh liner, we’ll need to find an alternative solution to keep insects, mosquitoes, and small animals out while still allowing water to flow freely into the barrel. It would be helpful if the manufacturer offered a more effective screening solution that doesn’t restrict water flow during heavier rain events. Since we just installed the rain barrel, we have not yet had the opportunity to test the spigot and hose connection to see how well water flows out for watering plants and gardens. If those components perform as expected, we’ll be very pleased with the overall product. Overall, we’re very happy with the appearance and functionality of the rain barrel, but the included mesh liner may need to be redesigned or improved to prevent overflow issues during heavier rain.. The rain barrel looks as nice as the pictures. The mesh to keep the bugs out does not fits snuggly snuggly and I will need to add aluminum screen. There are two round cut outs near the top at the back of the rain barrel and I assume that’s for venting air as the barrel fills as well as when water is dispensed. Or I suppose it could be for overflow There was no diagram of the rain barrel explaining all the nuances. This was even better looking than I thought it would be. It looks beautiful. However, customers should know that there is no opening for a diverter hose from a downspout. And there are no instructions for setting up other than the spigots. It seems like it is designed to just sit anywhere and gather rain, which would take forever. Installation is quick and easy. On the downspout, simply drill a hole with the included hole saw, then insert the rubber rain catch. The rain catch design allows the collection of water as it runs down the walls of your downspout while it filters out any leafy debris. Next, drill a hole in your rain barrel at the same level and insert the flanged rubber receiver. Finally, connect the diverter and receiver with the included flexible tubing.

I bought this barrel and the diverter kit separately. Works best when you convert the top to a planter . This barrel is sturdy and was compatible with the eco station diverter kit. I bought 2 , and curiously enough one barrel came with 2 brass spigots and the other came with just one plastic spigot … plastic spigot does not look sturdy.. also the spigot cut out is low so you may want to elevate barrel for sufficient pressure, although you could cut your own hole and insert a spigot. These rain barrels are repurposed from pre-used imported food barrels. There may be slight scratching or scuffs due to previous overseas transportation.
