This is my second attempt at buying/using an ice maker. The first time I never worked and that’s bc it was a very poorly ventilated mobile home in Florida and the heat was too much. Now, I’m in a ‘regular’ home and thought I’d give it another’s try with this model and low and behold, this thing cranks out the ice non-stop and you don’t need to stand their while it’s doing it but it helps bc you do want to put the ice in your freezer - I used a metal mixing bowl and filled it to the top in mere minutes. We purchased this for a new home build that had a slide in range in an island. We did not want an exhaust hood that hung down from the ceiling and this one was perfect for a flush mount in the ceiling. It was priced considerably less than other brands that had white glass finishes. There are a couple discoveries we made however. It did not turn on once the power was brought to the new build. We called Awoco and were told to check in the black box under the stainless grill, for a white connection that sometimes is disconnected. That solved the problem and the unit lit up and worked with the remote and the voice commands. Customer service was very helpful and seemed to know exactly what to look for. There is one other thing to be aware of with the voice command, occasionally it picks up what it believes to be a request for action and starts talking, asking for directions. We thought we were hearing voices until we realized it was the exhaust fan talking. Now if the TV or one of us saying something similar to "Hi Awoco" (prompt for commands) gets her talking we have a good chuckle.. Norma. Ware, MA. Sat Feb 14 2026
