Beautiful, sturdy desk. Gave 4 stars due to four of the pre-drilled holes not being complete by the manufacturer. My husband had to use his electric drill to complete the holes and doing this a piece of the veneer chipped off. Thankfully this chipped veneer piece is small and cannot be seen. This piece is perfect for my home. I almost did not order it because the description says it is black cherry , maybe they were describing the wood type and I was thinking color. This is a extremely well made, high quality desk of solid wood. It comes completely preassembled out of the box and mine had no defects. That said, it is extremely heavy so you definitely need help removing it from packaging and placing it. The color is more of a dove gray with some natural variation but I wouldn’t say it is distressed. It has a classic appeal but the shape and drawer pulls make it look a little more modern.
